How to use UmixIt as a Karaoke Machine
It's simple! Find the vocal track and press the yellow mute button. Read along with the karaoke lyrics. ( If you do not see the lyrics box, go the the view menu and select lyrics)
If you would like to record your new vocals, you can do so using the built in mic on your computer or by plugging a mic into your microphone jack. We suggest switching to the track panel view to record. ( View -> Track Panel) If you would like to hear all the other tracks play while you are recording, make sure " Play other tracks while recording a new one " is selected in your audio preferences. Please be aware, if you have this selected and are using the microphone or computer or in close proximity to your computer, the other tracks will be heard through your microphone - meaning your voice/instrument will NOT be the only sound on the track. We suggest using headphones if you would like to listen to the other parts play while you record.
Rewind the song to the beginning, or place the cursor wherever you would like to start recording. Press the red record button. This will add a new track every-time you press it.
Sing or play into the microphone. When you are done singing or playing, press the record button again. Your new track will be at the bottom of all the other tracks. You can manipulate this track just like all the others.
How to use UmixIt to learn parts

- This WILL affect the pitch and tempo of the song.
- Play around with the effects. You never know what you might hear! You can always change it back to the way it originally sounded by going to the edit menu and selecting undo.
- Create a new drumbeat by either making one in another program or mess around with the current drums. You can usually find free drum loops online by doing a search.
- To create a mashup, you can either import all the tracks from another UmixIt session OR import a stereo version of a song you' d like to use.
We've told you all the basics, now it's up to you to use your creativity! Happy Mixing!
